The new frontier of sustainable steel
PE60 reduces CO2 emissions by 60% in its replacement of coal and transforms waste into resources for the steel industry.
PE60 is an innovative product that replaces fossil coal in steel recycling processes. Made from biocarbon and used beverage cartons (tetrapak), PE60 converts waste materials into valuable resources, promoting synergy between the recycling of ferrous scrap, paper, and plastic.

CLEAN
Reduction of environmental and metallurgical pollutants
CIRCULARITY
Valorization and recycling of industrial waste
SYNERGIES
Integration between the steel, biomass, paper, and plastic supply chains
Why it's a double benefit for the environment
In addition to reducing emissions, PE60 helps address a significant challenge in the circular economy. Currently, only the paper component of tetrapak can be recycled, while the remaining fraction of plastic and aluminum, known as PolyAl, is mostly disposed of through incineration or landfilling.
Thanks to technology developed by Pipex Energy, PolyAl can now be repurposed as a suitable polymer material for the production of PE60.
PE60 plays a crucial role in solving a significant issue within the circular economy.
For every ton of fossil coal replaced by PE60
we prevent the emission of 2 tons of CO2
we recycle over 55,000 beverage cartons
